My Story

How I Got Here

Hi, Congratulations on your pregnancy. My name is Kate, I am 36 and a mum of six children. I have five boys, including twins and one beautiful girl.  We live on our farm in Surrey with my husband Mike and our six dogs, sheep, cows, ducks, chickens, geese and ponies.  My own births have varied from hospital births, home births, water births and using a birth centre.  All five births have been natural, but each were very different experiences, some hugely empowering and positive, some were not so much.  I decided to become a Doula because I recognised how powerful, yet vulnerable women can feel during this stage of their lives, particularly during Labour.  Often women are not encouraged to make their own choices with regards to their births and often look back on their experience as a negative memory, describing feelings of fear and being out of control.  I believe in the power of a women.  I am extremely passionate about supporting you through Pregnancy, Labour and Postnataly by providing evidence based information and emotional support which will empower you and enable you have a positive birth experience.

Here for You

Birth Preparation is key to achieving a positive birth experience.  We can discuss any fears you might have or previous trauma you have experienced. We will work together (and birth partners) to ensure you go into labour feeling confident, calm and as fearless as possible.  This is important to allow your Oxytocin to flow effectively and let your body do what it knows how to do.

After beginning our relationship with a meet and greet, I am committed to your health and the wellbeing of your growing family.

I will be available to you by phone whenever you need me. We will meet at least twice during your pregnancy to go through all your all your choices and Birth Wishes.  I can be available for assisted Antenatal Appointments and we will also discuss you hopes and expectations once your baby arrives. I will be 'on call' for you from two weeks before your due date until two weeks after.  During your Labour I will stay with you throughout, supporting you with anything you need.  I will visit at least twice after baby has been born to ensure you have everything you need to enjoy your relationship with your new baby and family. Kate was a great influence throughout my pregnancy and post birth.  Kate supported me to make the decision to have a homebirth despite it being my first baby.  She has a calming and non judgemental manner which makes it easy to speak to her about things you would usually worry about discussing with anyone else.  My husband and I highly reommend her services.  Thank you Kate x

I didn't have Kate as my Dula when I had my two daughters, I had her as my friend.  The help, advice and support she gave me I will always be grateful and whoever is lucky enough to have her with them during this special time will know what I mean. My pregnancies were not straight forward.  I was induced with my first and my second got stuck and was in intensive care.  I was in hopital for over a week with her and despite being heavily pregnany with her baby 4, Kate looked after my older daughter and brought her into hospital to visit.  Thank you for everything you did when i needed you the most

Having been around Kate and seen the positive and relaxed way that Kate has birthed and raised her children,  I only wish services like this were around when I had my children 18 years ago.  We are the only species who dont listen to our natural insticts, and even though I was a first time mum, I knew something wasnt right but i was powerless.  It was put down to inexperience.  Unfortunatly saying sorry doesnt help after.  Kates experience, kindness, calmness and lack of judgement are fitting qualities for a Doula and I would have loved to have her by my side.

My pregnancy was fairly smooth (apart from morning sickness for most of the nine months).  However, when my waters finally broke my daughter showed no signs of arriving.  For three days I was inhospital.  I was eventually induced and what I had hoped would be a relaxing lead up to my birth changed immidiately..  As a irst time mum I felt that rather question what was happening I just did as i was told..  I wish I had had someone like Kate with me to talk me through my options and make me take a minute before making any decisions.  Kate is a very strong person who i believe will be a great help to anyone going through pregnancy, labour and motherhood, and will make sure you find your voice.
